AFTERCARE ADVICE

Therapeutic massage aids and supports the body’s natural mechanisms to release stresses that build up over time.

In order to gain maximum benefit from your massage or other therapy treatment, it is advisable that as part of your aftercare routine you follow the following steps for approximately 12 hours.

  • Drink plenty of water and herbal infusions to help to flush out the toxins; massage aids the removal of toxins from your body. Aim to drink two glasses of water after each drink of tea or coffee.
  • Don’t drink alcohol or smoke during the next 24 hours; massage aims to detoxify the body - alcohol and smoking are counterproductive as they increase the level of toxins in the body.
  • Avoid heavy meals.
  • Do not shower or bathe for at least 6-8 hours after a treatment. This allows the essential oils used to requisite time to wholly penetrate your skin in order to be absorbed into your system to achieve optimal results.
  • Avoid sauna and steam rooms.
  • Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight and do not use sun beds following the use of any oils.
  • Be aware of your posture.
  • Rest as much as possible in order to assist the healing process.
  • You may experience a feeling of tiredness and fatigue following massage. In some cases headaches may follow.
  • You may feel emotional. It’s quite natural to feel tearful.
  • Increased urination and flu-like symptoms (runny-nose, coughing) may occur.

These are temporary feelings as your body rebalances itself. They will be replaced by a delightful feeling of wellbeing
